Y Scholars

A College Readiness, Academic Achievement, and Career Development Program for Underrepresented Youth

The Y Scholars program is an extracurricular educational and team mentoring program that supports underrepresented youth in the 5th-12th grades and their parents travel a successful path to higher education. The program features leadership and personal goal-setting, career exploration, character and values development, service learning, and support for navigating the college application process. Volunteer adult role models – or Y Scholar Mentors – lead discussions and encourage participants to aspire to high standards, excel in school and attend college to achieve their dreams. Other activities include visits to local colleges, field trips, and workshops.

Y Scholars meets on alternate Saturdays through May at 10:00am in the Princeton Family YMCA’s Program Conference Room.

Y Scholars Mentors Needed!

Do you have 6 to 10 hours a month to change a young person’s life in a positive and meaningful way? The Princeton Family YMCA needs adult volunteers who are willing to attend two sessions per month with middle and high school students, share in group sessions, and be matched with one or two students to encourage and support their achievement throughout the year.
