2021 SUMMER CAMPPROGRAM GUIDEGive your kids a life-changing experience! Each summer, the Princeton Family YMCA has inspired kids with countless opportunities to laugh, lead and make lasting friends. Together, our proven programs and trained counselors deliver meaningful and memorable camp experiences that keep families coming back year after year. Our day camps welcome all kids to discover who they are and imagine who they can be, with programs that foster lifelong skills, build self-confidence and create friendships.

At the Y, we know that when kids are given an opportunity to accomplish things, make friends, and feel like they belong, they are comfortable expressing individuality and feel more confident, connected and supported. We focus on these youth development areas to ensure that kids in our day camp program go home with so much excitement for all they’ve accomplished and enjoyed, that they can’t wait to come back the next day.

Our camps are accredited by the American Camping Association (ACA) which set the highest standards for camps in the nation. ACA Accreditation means that your child’s camp cares enough to undergo a thorough review of its operations – from staff qualifications and training to emergency management. This important seal of approval means we comply with up to 300 health, safety and program quality standards. We have gone to great lengths to provide a safe and enjoyable environment.

FAQs for Camp
What is the difference between the membership types?

Full Facility Membership is our primary membership.  It offers access to the facility for campers including open basketball gym and family swim as well as the ability to register for YMCA programming at a lower rate.  Dues are drafted monthly and continue until cancelled in writing.

Summer Camper Membership is a special Full Facility membership with specific dates (June 1 – August 31) and does not expire.  Camp fees are at the Full Facility pricing.

Program Membership is a special membership type available.  It is a one-time annual fee and does not expire.  However, program members are only entitled to Y access during programs they are registered for (no open gym or family swim).

Do my children need to reside in Princeton to attend camp?

Not at all!  Our campers come from many of our nearby communities.

Is there a minimum number of weeks?

Campers can come for as little as one week all the way up to the entire summer (in 2021, ten weeks).

Do you offer partial week schedules?

Camp registration are only available for full weeks.

What food is provided?

We provide afternoon snack daily.  On Fridays, we will provide a barbecue lunch with hamburgers, hot dogs, veggie burgers, and more!  The rest of the week, parents should pack a healthy lunch.

Is your camp outdoors?

Princeton YMCA summer camp is primarily an outdoor camp.  Campers will spend most of their day in our outdoor spaces, with the exception of swimming in our indoor pool, and the occasional game or activity held in the gymnasium.  In the event of inclement weather, campers will go inside the YMCA building to designated indoor spaces.

Are your offering half day programs?

In 2021, we are not offering our traditional half day option, where campers can either come for a morning or afternoon session.

If your child is attending summer school and you would like to have them participate in camp during this time, please contact Matt Boyd at mboyd@princetonymca.org to discuss options.

I have specific questions about programming.  Who should I contact?

For questions regarding our traditional day camp, contact Paul Zeger at pzeger@princetonymca.org.

For questions about specialty camp, contact Leigh Zink at lzink@princetonymca.org.

SPECIALTY CAMPS are designed to offer activities on a particular interest or topic, all while incorporating overall traditional YMCA camp principles. Specialty Camps are very enriching and in most cases very educational. Weeks are designed to provide an intense exposure and are a great way for campers to add even more variety to their summer experience.

As a YMCA member you’ll feel great knowing that you’re involved in an organization that cares deeply about your health and well being, as well as that of the community, and is committed to building strong kids, strong families, and strong communities.

Since our beginnings, the Princeton Family YMCA has been committed to the healthy development of children through a broad range of programs that capture their imaginations, instill positive values, build self-esteem and teach fundamental skills. YMCA Summer Day Camp is one of the most powerful ways for your children to learn lessons that will serve them throughout their lives – and this summer, we invite your family to join us to be a part of something very special.

At Princeton Family YMCA Summer Day Camps, your child will gain skills, try new things and grow in confidence and self-assurance, while practicing the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility as part of daily camp life. By participating in a larger community, your child will learn teamwork, hone social skills and make many new friends. Our culturally diverse team of counselors brings enthusiasm, responsibility, knowledge and a genuine love for children to their jobs. Staff members are carefully selected and receive extensive pre-season camp training that includes risk management, character development and program policies.

We hope that you will consider joining our camp family this summer.  It’s sure to be another great season!
