COMMITTED AND FAITHFUL PRINCETONIANS (CFP)
The Committed and Faithful Princetonians (CFP) is a Princeton-based group created to help young people ages 11-18 achieve academic, social and personal goals and overcome obstacles in a safe, uplifting environment.
In 2004, Committed Princetonians was founded by a group of concerned community men who assembled to address a gap in the need for leadership for young men, lead by Lary Spruill. In 2009, Larry's wife, Fern, recognized that young women also needed guidance and support. With the help of the Princeton University Black Graduate Caucus, the Faithful Princetonians were founded. In 2011, the two groups combined and joined forces with the Princeton Family YMCA.
CFP meets every other week at John Witherspoon Middle School where students welcome and listen to guest speakers, plan and conduct community service projects, and share in discussions about values and choices, with support from parent volunteers.
The group also participates in fundraising activities throughout the year to finance special trips, including an annual camping trip to the Frost Valley YMCA in New York.
The first meeting of the 2017-2018 school year will be Thursday, September 28, 2017.
