Camp M.V.P. is the ideal program for the young athlete who can't get enough of sports and loves the spirit of competition. At Camp M.V.P., campers will receive quality instruction and guidance in sports such as soccer, basketball, baseball, football, floor hockey and special YMCA group games. Coaches work with campers to challenge them and give them the one-on-one attention they need to grow and learn each sport. Campers divide into groups based on age. Younger campers focus more on having fun while learning sports fundamentals and the importance of teamwork. Older campers focus on expanding their knowledge and athletic abilities. Daily scrimmages help further develop skills through competitive play. At the YMCA, we use sports to teach lifelong skills and values.

YMCA Leadership Academy

Camp Location: Princeton Family YMCA
Hours of Operation: 7:30am to 6:00pm
Princeton Family YMCA's Leadership Academy is a comprehensive program providing teens with opportunities for leadership training, personal growth, service to others, and social development. This two-week session allows young people to work closely with an advisor on skill- and characterbuilding
activities, planning and organizing camp projects plus exploring community service options. By giving teens positive role models, we will strive to promote and enhance their personal growth and social skills as young people in order to develop leaders who will become a positive force within their communities. Two important components of this leadership program will be teen and camper interaction, as well as shadow training with our camp counselors. YMCA Leadership Academy provides a stepping stone for teens to become confident and competent adults with a sense of belonging to their community.Specialty Camps.

Field Trips and Special Events

Each week, campers will take part in either a special event or a field trip. For information on specific weekly activities, please see our 2010 Summer Camp Planner below. This will give you an overview of
your child's summer camping experience at the Princeton Family YMCA. In addition, weekly highlight sheets will be available at each camp site or by logging on our website, and to keep you up-to-date, a weekly "E-Blast" will be emailed to all enrolled campers as a camp activity reminder and as notification of any changes for the following week. In addition, campers will receive a camp T-shirt which should be worn on any field trips your child is attending.

Swim Program

Discovery campers will swim daily at our West Windsor facility, the Princeton Theological Seminary Pool. M.V.P. campers will swim at the Princeton Family YMCA pool. Each camper’s swimming ability is tested prior to pool time. In order for any camper to be allowed in the deep end, they must be able to swim one pool length (25 yards) non-stop, and tread water for one minute.

Certified lifeguards are always present and flotation devices are used for non swimmers. The weekly pool schedule will consist of two days of swim lessons and three days of free swim. Campers should come to camp prepared with a bathing suit, sun block and a dry change of clothes if needed.
PLEASE NOTE: Campers will not swim if their group is on a field trip.

As a YMCA member you’ll feel great knowing that you’re involved in an organization that cares deeply about your health and well being, as well as that of the community, and is committed to building strong kids, strong families, and strong communities.
